First anti-tumor drug
The revolutionary discovery of this world’s first proven anti-tumor drug occurred spontaneously during 10 years of research and development of this super-antibiotic.
The mechanism of action is the same as on bacterial cells - apoptosis, i.e. the drug has been shown to destroy mutated cancer cells with minimal risk to healthy host cells.
Demonstrating efficacy in the treatment of human colorectal cancer, drug testing was continued in liver cancer, lung cancer and breast cancer in which it was also shown to be effective.
NS-1 has also shown an exceptional efficacy in a research of destroying colon cancer tumor cells. The study was performed by a colorimetric MTT test that assesses cell viability based on mitochondrial dehydrogenase activity:
- after 24 hours it was proved that there is no difference in the number of viable control and treated cells;
- after 48 hours, a significant effect of the substance on 2 x 103 cells was obtained (survival of control cells: 100.1 ± 1.98%; survival of treated cells: 87.31 ± 1.59%);
- after 72 hours, a significant effect of the substance was obtained on 2 x 103 cells (survival of control cells: 100.0 ± 2.55%; survival of treated cells: 87.45 ± 0.83%).
